Jharkhand is a newly created state in India, the long-cherished dream of many tribes nestled in the southern parts of Bihar of being a separate entity. Situated in the Chotanagpur plateau, the state is endowed with abundant mineral wealth, flora and fauna. The capital city, Ranchi is hilly and enjoys temperate weather throughout the year. A busy administrative centre, it has prestigious educational institutions and spectacular landscape. Cities such as Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Giridih, Dhanbad and Hazaribagh are frequent business destinations with their wealth of steel and coal. Jharkhand is all geared to make its mark on the tourist and business map of India with a terrific combination of natural beauty and mineral riches.
Jharkhand has a typically tropical climate with hot wet summers and mild winters. Temperatures can soar up to 42ºC in the capital city of Ranchi in summer although it is considered to be a relatively pleasant city. The monsoon season is July to September and the state receives an annual rainfall of 1326mm.
